A modern "Happy Accident" with a legendary lineage.
The Disco Bugger might have been born from a mistake at the vise, but it shares its DNA with a famous Icelandic killer. almost 30 years ago, Kári Ölversson designed the original version of this style for the deep waters of Veiðivötn. Back then, it was tied incredibly heavy to reach fish without sinking lines. We have updated that concept for the modern angler. Like its predecessor, this fly might look "quite flashy" to the skeptic, but that opinion changes quickly when a trout takes it "with a bang".
Why we love it:
The Heritage: Based on the principles of Kári Ölversson's original "Gold" pattern, this fly triggers the same aggressive feeding response that has worked for three decades.
The "Yellow" Variant: While the original often used darker tails, this version features the lethal yellow marabou tail, a specific variation noted for when trout get bored of traditional colors, also adding the hackle behind the bead, gives it a little more action in the rivers.
The Modern Keel: We swapped the old-school heavy "crosshead" for a modern tungsten jig bead, allowing the fly to bounce off the bottom hook-point up without snagging.

Guide Tip: History proves that fish don't get tired of this fly. It is an aggression bait. Fish it fast and erratic. The flash is designed to annoy fish into biting, just as Kári discovered years ago when the first trout smashed his flashy creation.
