The "Bow River Magic" fly that works everywhere.
Known by locals as the "Reese's Worm" due to its distinct brown and orange color palette, this pattern is legendary on the Bow River and beyond. By combining natural earth tones with a high-vis orange attractor color, it creates a segmented profile that looks like a natural aquatic worm with a built-in "hot spot." It bridges the gap between a natural drift and an attractor reaction strike. There is many variations of brown and orange, but at Fish Fuel, we guide test these patterns, and know this is the shade!
Why we love it:
The Contrast: The alternating bands of brown and orange create a segmentation that stands out against the river bottom much better than a solid-colored worm.
The Best of Both Worlds: The brown mimics the natural color of aquatic worms found in the mud, while the orange acts as a trigger, mimicking an egg or simply grabbing the trout's attention.
High Water Hero: This is an exceptional pattern for runoff or stained water when fish need a little extra color to find the fly.
Quantity: Sold in packs of 12.
Guide Tip: This is a staple "Lead Fly" for a double nymph rig, or Hopper Dropper Rig. The bright orange segments make it visible enough to draw fish in, and often they will move to inspect this worm and then eat the smaller dropper fly trailing behind it.
