Standard dry flies mimic the adult insect sitting on top of the water, but trout often prefer the "emerger", the stage where the fly is struggling to pull free from its nymphal skin. The PMD Sparkle Dun captures this exact moment. It features a trailing "shuck" of crinkled yarn that hangs in the surface film, signaling to the trout that this insect is tethered and cannot fly away.
