While these insects are the bane of anglers, they are a staple food source for trout, especially in high mountain lakes and slow-moving meadows. This pattern is a precise imitation of the adult mosquito, featuring the distinct black-and-white segmented body that fish recognize instantly. Unlike the buzzing real thing, this one won't bite you—but the trout will bite it.
Why we love it:
The Segmentation: The body is wrapped to create high-contrast black and white banding, mimicking the abdomen of a real mosquito perfectly.

Guide Tip: Fish this pattern on a long, thin leader (5x or 6x) in still water. If you see fish dimpling the surface gently in the evening, they are likely sipping midges or mosquitos. Let it sit perfectly still; the trout will cruise by and sip it in.
