The hopper that plays by the trout's rules.
Designed by Ken Morrish, the Morrish Hopper revolutionized foam terrestrial patterns by solving the biggest problem with traditional hoppers: they sit too high on the water. Real grasshoppers are clumsy swimmers; when they crash into the river, they get trapped in the surface film, not on it. The Morrish Hopper features a dense, sculpted foam body that sits low and flush in the water, giving wary trout the exact silhouette they are looking for, all while remaining virtually unsinkable.
Why we love it:
The Profile: Because it sits low in the surface film, it completely fools highly pressured fish that have grown suspicious of high-riding, bulky foam patterns.
The Aerodynamics: Unlike traditional hair-wing hoppers that spin and twist your leader in the wind, the sleek, flat profile of this foam body casts like an absolute bullet.
The Durability: Built from high-density closed-cell foam with glued, realistic legs, this bug will survive dozens of aggressive eats without falling apart or getting waterlogged.
Quantity: Sold in packs of 12.
Guide Tip: This is a phenomenal pattern when the wind picks up on the Bow River and starts blowing terrestrials off the high grassy banks. Because it cuts through the wind so well, you can punch it tightly under overhanging branches or right against the seams. Give it one subtle twitch to mimic a struggling insect, then let it sit dead-still and wait for the toilet-bowl flush of a take.
