The "Bite-Sized" streamer that acts like a nymph.
Sometimes a full-sized Woolly Bugger is just too aggressive for spooky water. Enter the Micro Bugger. This fly bridges the gap between a streamer and a nymph. It is small enough to be dead-drifted under an indicator like a leech or damselfly larva, yet it still possesses the pulsing life of a streamer when stripped. The brown coloration is the ultimate "all-purpose" shade, matching everything from small crayfish to snails.
Why we love it:
The Versatility: It can be fished three ways: dead-drifted deep like a nymph, swung in the current like a wet fly, or stripped slowly like a streamer.
The Action: Despite its small size, the marabou tail with crystal flash breathes and pulses in the water, triggering strikes from fish that are ignoring static nymphs.
The Profile: The palmered hackle over the body pushes water and creates a buggy silhouette without the bulk of a large streamer.
Quantity: Sold in packs of 12.
Guide Tip: This is a deadly pattern for stillwater (lakes) when fished on a slow retrieve. In rivers, try trailing this behind a larger streamer or fishing it under an indicator in deep, slow pools where big trout are looking for a substantial but easy meal.
