The "easy meal" that catches the smartest fish in the river.

The Last Chance Cripple is designed to target trout that have been refusing standard dry flies all day. It imitates a Mayfly that is stuck in its shuck and failing to hatch. The distinct rusty-brown body mimics a nymph that has exhausted itself and is beginning to die in the surface film. To a trout, this color signals a bug that is absolutely defenseless.

Why we love it:

The "Rusty" Trigger: The darker body contrasts with the pale dun wing, perfectly imitating the struggle of a light-colored insect trying to pull itself out of a dark nymphal skin.

The Posture: Tied on a curved hook, the tail hangs vertically in the water, while the forward-facing wing keeps the head above water. This "half-in, half-out" profile is irresistible to selective feeders.

The Shuck: The trailing fibers at the bend of the hook mimic the empty shuck dragging behind the insect, a key trigger for technical dry fly fishing.

Quantity: Sold in packs of 12.

Guide Tip: This is the ultimate pattern for "bank sippers" on technical spring creeks or tailwaters. If you see a big nose barely breaking the surface but refusing your high-floating duns, switch to this. It sits lower and looks like it's dying, perfect for lazy, big fish.
