The Green Drake hatch is legendary in the West. These massive mayflies are essentially flying cheeseburgers, bringing the largest trout in the river to the surface for a frantic feeding frenzy. This pattern is designed to float high and match the imposing silhouette of the natural insect, ensuring you are ready for the main event of the summer.
Why we love it:
The Visibility: The tall, upright hair wing makes this fly incredibly easy to track, even in the heavy, broken water where Drakes often hatch.

Guide Tip: Green Drakes often struggle to get off the water. If a perfect dead drift isn't working, try giving the fly a tiny twitch or "skating" it slightly. That sudden movement can trigger a strike from a fish thinking the bug is about to fly away. Also, don't be afraid to use heavier tippet (4x)—the fish aren't looking at the line when the bug is this big.
