Ants are a high-protein snack that trout see all season long, but especially on windy summer days when they get blown off the banks. The Fur Ant is superior to hard-body ant patterns because the fur body creates a soft, natural silhouette in the surface film that looks alive. It lands softly and sits low in the water, perfectly mimicking a drowning insect that can't escape.

The Silhouette: The distinct "double hump" profile clearly signals "ant" to the fish, a trigger they rarely refuse.
The Material: The fur body absorbs just enough water to ride flush in the film, which is far more realistic than a high-riding foam or epoxy ant.

Guide Tip: Fish this close to the banks, especially under overhanging willows or grassy cut banks. A "splat" cast here is actually good, it sounds like an ant falling from the grass. It is also deadly on alpine lakes.
