A competition-proven attractor that forces fish to eat.
Designed by legendary competitive angler Lance Egan, the Red Dart is a masterclass in trigger points. Rather than perfectly matching a specific hatch, this fly combines a series of historically effective elements—a flashy peacock body, a soft hackle collar, a glaring pink hot spot, and of course, the signature red hackle tail—into one irresistible package. It doesn't look like anything specific, but it looks like food, and it is designed to sink like a stone to grab the attention of trout from across the current.
Why we love it:
The Triggers: Between the red tail, the pink thorax, and the pearl ribbing over the peacock body, this fly acts like a neon sign begging for a reaction strike.
The Sink Rate: Built on a premium jig hook with a heavy tungsten bead, its slim profile cuts through heavy current to get down into the feeding zone instantly.
The Versatility: While it was born for tight-line Euro nymphing, its undeniable bugginess makes it an equally deadly dropper suspended below a large foam dry fly.
Quantity: Sold in packs of 12.
Guide Tip: This is a fantastic anchor fly when you need to get deep fast. If the river is running a bit off-color or you are fishing deep, fast seams where fish have split seconds to make a feeding decision, the Red Dart provides exactly the flash and color contrast needed to trigger an aggressive response.
