Designed by multiple-time World Fly Fishing Champion Martin Droz, this fly sits in a unique category of its own. Is it a Frenchie? Is it a Perdigon? The jury is out, but the results are undeniable. It combines the slim, fast-sinking profile of a thread body with the buggy, textured thorax of a standard nymph. It is a "hybrid" competition pattern designed to sink fast but still provide a soft, lifelike texture that encourages fish to hold on longer.
Why we love it:
The Trigger Point: The distinct hot orange thread tag at the tail creates a "target" that triggers an aggression response, even in fish that aren't actively feeding.
The Hybrid Profile: The body is slim black thread with wire ribbing for durability and speed, while the spiky dubbed thorax provides the movement that pure resin flies lack.
The Contrast: The silver bead and ribbing against the dark body create a high-contrast flash that stands out in off-color or deep water.

Guide Tip: This is a "closer." When you have been fishing a run with standard naturals (like Pheasant Tails) and the action slows down, switch to this. The combination of the dark silhouette and the hot orange tag often annoys a fish into eating when they are "full." It is exceptional in pocket water. Fish it late in the season, see what happens :)
