The "Signature Series" pattern that started it all.
Designed by Fly Fishing Guide Dana Lattery, this is the original heavy-hitter that the Balanced version was based on. While the Balanced Leech is designed to hang under a bobber, this standard version is built to swim. Tied on a strong, streamer hook, it features a pulsing marabou tail and a sparse Semi Seal body that cuts through the water, making it the perfect choice for stripping, swinging, or trolling.
Why we love it:
The "Kill" Color: The combination of black and purple is arguably the most effective leech silhouette in fly fishing. It works in clear water, dirty water, and everything in between.
The Hot Spot: The bright orange bead mimics an egg (the "egg-sucking leech" profile) or simply acts as a high-contrast target that fish lock onto from a distance.
Versatility: Unlike the balanced version which is specialized for indicators, this fly can be fished on a sinking line, stripped fast in shallow water, or swung through river currents.

Guide Tip: Use an erratic retrieve. Leechs don't swim in a straight line; they extend and contract. Strip this fly with a "pull-pause-pull" rhythm. The pause allows the marabou to flare out, which is usually when the fish hits.
