This pattern is a variation of the classic hair-wing style, designed specifically to match the bulky silhouette of the Western Green Drake. Unlike delicate hackle-tip wings that can sink in turbulent water, this fly uses dense hair wings and a heavy hackle collar to ride high through the heaviest riffles. It presents a distinct profile that big trout recognize immediately as a high-calorie meal.
