This was one of the first patterns to utilize an articulated spine, giving it a seductive, serpentine swimming action that stiff hooks just can't match. In black, it creates a massive, high-contrast silhouette that is highly visible in dirty water or low light, making it a top choice for targeting trophy browns that hunt at dawn and dusk.
Why we love it:
The Action: The articulated connection allows the rear hook to whip side-to-side, mimicking a wounded baitfish struggling to swim.
The Triggers: Loaded with rubber legs and red flash in the tail, this fly has movement and vibration even when it's sitting still.
Neutral Buoyancy: The chenille and marabou body absorbs water, allowing the fly to hover in the strike zone rather than sinking rapidly to the bottom.

Guide Tip: This is an aggression fly. You aren't trying to feed the fish; you are trying to make them angry. Pound the banks with it and use a fast, erratic strip retrieve. The more chaotic the movement, the harder the strike.
