The "Schoolyard Bully" of baitfish patterns.

Designed by Matt Bennett, the Lunch Money was created to imitate small panfish, shad, and minnows, the primary food source for trophy bass and brown trout. Unlike heavy, dredging streamers, this fly is built with a wide, synthetic head that acts like a parachute in the water. It pushes a ton of water to get the fish's attention, but "hovers" in the strike zone between strips, giving predators an easy target they can't refuse.

Why we love it:

The Profile: The custom-blended laser dub head creates a broad, realistic baitfish profile that looks like a substantial meal without being impossible to cast.

The "Hover": The water-resistant synthetic head counteracts the weight of the dumbbell eyes, allowing the fly to suspend and "jig" gently rather than crashing to the bottom.

The Durability: Built almost entirely from synthetics, this fly is nearly indestructible. It can survive dozens of eats from toothy critters and keep swimming.

Quantity: Sold in packs of 6.

Guide Tip: This is a "reaction" fly. The magic is in the pause. Strip it hard to flare the materials, then kill it. That moment of suspension—when the fly looks like a stunned minnow—is usually when the toilet flush happens.
