The Prince Nymph is one of the top five most popular flies in history for a reason: it catches fish when nothing else will. It doesn't look exactly like any specific insect, but it has the trigger points of all of them. The dark body suggests a stonefly or caddis larva, while the bright white wings create a high-contrast anomaly that trout can't resist investigating.
Why we love it:
The Contrast: The bright white goose biot wings on top stand out sharply against the dark river bottom, making this fly highly visible to fish in deep water.
