Created by fly fishing legend Jack Dennis, Amy's Ant is a mutant attractor that doesn't perfectly imitate any one thing. Is it a hopper? A massive flying ant? A golden stonefly? A crippled caddis? It doesn't matter. What matters is that when this high-vis, rubber-legged chunk of foam hits the water, trout aggressively annihilate it. It is an absolute staple for terrestrial season and one of the best searching dry flies ever tied.

The Buoyancy: Built with a closed-cell foam body and heavily hackled from front to back, this fly is virtually unsinkable. It will ride high through heavy riffles and easily support heavy tungsten droppers all day long.

Guide Tip: This is a phenomenal top-water bug for pounding the grassy banks of the Bow River during the heat of late summer. Slap it down hard against the edges so it lands with a distinct "splat." If it drifts a few feet with no takers, give the rod tip a tiny twitch to make those rubber legs kick—that is often exactly what it takes to pull a big brown trout out of the shadows.
